This Privacy Policy describes how information about you is collected, used, and shared when you use the mobile application (the "App").

Information We Collect

We may collect and process the following types of personal information about you:

Full Name: Used for personalization of your event experience.
Affiliation: Used for personalization and reporting to organizers.
Sex: Collected for analytics purposes only.
Email Address: Used for contacting you regarding your registration and event updates.
Address: Collected for analytics and reporting.
Age: Collected for analytics purposes only.
Photo: Used for facial recognition to enable automatic attendance. Photos are immediately deleted after facial data extraction and are not stored permanently.
Attendance Data: The App may collect attendance through QR code scanning or facial recognition.
Survey Responses: If you participate in feedback surveys, we may collect your responses and feedback.
Usage Data: Information about how you use the App, including your interactions with content and features.

How We Use Your Information

We may use your personal information for the following purposes:

To provide you with access to and use of the App.
To manage your registration and participation in events.
To send you updates and announcements related to DOST events and services.
To conduct surveys and gather feedback to improve our services.
To monitor and analyze usage patterns for improving the user experience.
To generate analytics and reports for organizers.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal information based on the following legal grounds, in compliance with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 and other applicable data protection laws:

Consent: By registering and using the App, you provide consent for the collection and processing of your personal data as described in this Privacy Policy.
Contractual Necessity: Processing is necessary to manage your event registration, participation, and attendance.
Legitimate Interests: We may process certain data (e.g., analytics, feedback) to improve services, enhance user experience, and ensure efficient event management, provided that such processing does not override your rights and freedoms.
Legal Obligations: We may process or disclose information when required to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or government requirements.

Data Retention

You may request or trigger the deletion of your account and personal data at any time using the account settings in the InnoVents App.

If you uninstall or delete the App without requesting deletion, your account data will not be automatically removed. In this case, we will retain your information but personally identifiable data will be anonymized to protect your privacy. Anonymized data may continue to be used for analytics, reporting, and service improvement, but it will no longer be linked to you as an individual.

Facial recognition photos are deleted immediately after processing and are not stored permanently.

Sharing Your Information

We may share your personal information with:

Event organizers to facilitate registration, attendance, and participation.
Service providers and partners who assist us in delivering the App’s features and services.
Authorities when required by law or to protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property.

Your Rights as a Data Subject

By using the App, you are informed and aware of your rights under the Data Privacy Act of 2012. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

Right to be Informed: You have the right to know how your personal data is collected, used, stored, and processed.
Right to Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Right to Rectification: You may request corrections to any inaccurate or outdated personal information.
Right to Erasure or Blocking: You may request deletion or anonymization of your personal data as provided in our Data Retention policy.
Right to Object: You may object to certain processing activities, subject to applicable laws.
Right to Data Portability: You may request a copy of your data in a commonly used format where applicable.

Data Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect your personal information in keeping with current technological trends and developments. Security measures are in place to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction of data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Accessing and Deleting Your Information

You may request access to or deletion of your personal information via the mobile app profile page or by contacting us at [email protected]. We will respond in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Updates will be posted in the App.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the InnoVents mobile application (the "App"), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

2. User Registration

To use certain features of the App, you may be required to register for an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.

3. User Conduct

You agree not to:

Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
Transmit or post any content that is harmful, abusive, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App's systems or networks.
Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the App or the servers or networks used to make the App available.

4. Intellectual Property

All content and materials available on the App, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio, and software, are the property of InnoVents or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not use, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content found on the App without prior written consent.

5. Privacy

Your use of the App is subject to our Privacy Policy, which can be found here. By using the App, you consent to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Termination

InnoVents reserves the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at its sole discretion, without notice, for any conduct that violates these Terms of Use or is harmful to other users or third parties, or for any other reason.

7. Disclaimer

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. InnoVents disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, InnoVents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:

Your use or inability to use the App.
Any unauthorized access to or use of our servers and/or any personal information stored therein.
Any bugs, viruses, Trojan horses, or the like that may be transmitted to or through the App by any third party.
Any errors or omissions in any content or for any loss or damage incurred as a result of the use of any content posted, emailed, transmitted, or otherwise made available through the App.

9. Governing Law

These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located within the Republic of the Philippines to resolve any legal matter arising from these terms.
